WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER ADDING MOOD LIGHTING TO YOUR HOME

We wake up in the morning, switch the lights on, work, play, eat, sleep, and repeat. All these happen again and again, every single day of our lives. But what if we tell you there’s a way to improve your day-to-day routines by simply paying attention to your lighting?

Quit being stuck with a single and standard lighting for your room and resort to a more flexible lighting for your space – which is mood lighting. Don’t be afraid to experiment as this change can help you improve the feel of your room and make you feel more relaxed whether you are working, playing, or sleeping.

What is mood lighting?

Mood lighting “is simply a lighting system which controls the lights in a room (or every room of your home). Lighting is split into channels and a lighting keypad has a number of buttons which allow you to recall scenes. Pressing a button on the lighting keypad (recalling a scene) simply brings light channels on to preset levels” (Custom Controls, 2019).

While the standard lighting does the job of illuminating your room when you need it, mood lighting gives you more choices. You can choose to dim the lights when you want to relax, position them to highlight some parts of your space, or even change the colors for added entertainment.

Hosting a party? Change your room’s color to a lively one. Wanting to sleep? Switch to yellow lights. Need to increase productivity? Try working with the blue lights on.

Aside from this, mood lighting can also help you make the most out of your space. Putting dim lamps on the corner of your room opens up small spaces. You may also add some wall lamps to scatter light across the room instead of putting focus just on the ceiling and floor.

Lastly, save on your energy bills with mood lighting! Most of the mood lights available in the market are LED lights which are proven to consume less energy than the regular light bulbs. There are also mood lights which are based on digital dimming – which means that if it is dimmed to 5%, they consume hardly any energy.

Planning to welcome 2021 with your dream home? You might want to consider adding mood lighting to your homes! Don’t settle for less – don’t settle with what’s ordinary. Add a little experiment and creativity to your homes and start with one of the most important – lights!
