WHY IS ANTIPOLO FAMOUS? FIND OUT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!

Tayo na sa Antipolo!

The song Antipolo popularized by The Mabuhay Singers placed the city in the spotlight during the ‘90s. Up to now, we can easily recall this song and associate it with all the things we can visit and enjoy in this beautiful city.

What really makes Antipolo popular and special?

Beautiful churches, great nature spots, and scenic views of the city–these are just some of the things that make Antipolo famous.

When thinking about a pilgrimage site, especially for those who are about to undertake important trips or voyages, Antipolo first comes into mind. Known as the Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines, Antipolo has been the go-to of many devotees, and one of the most popular is the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or Antipolo Cathedral.

Devotees have been visiting the miraculous and revered “Marian image of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or the Virgin of Antipolo, which was brought in from Mexico in 1626” (De Vera & Noriega, 2019). This proves the strong Filipino devotion to Mary, which therefore influences their journey to churches with her patronage.

Other famous churches in Antipolo are the Boso-Boso Church and the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Beautiful and relaxing nature spots also makes Antipolo stand out. With just a few hours drive away from the city, you can already enjoy the cool and fresh breeze of Antipolo, and get to experience what it means to be one with nature.

Famous nature spots in this city are the Hinulugang Taktak (mentioned in the song Antipolo), Mystical Cave, Mount Purro Nature Reserve, and Phillip’s Sanctuary. If you’re up for some climb with friends, Antipolo also has a number of trails and hiking spots. Some of them are Mt. Mapalad, Mt. Batonglusong, and Mt. Maynuba.

Finally, the views that Antipolo offers is also what makes it unique.

Being on an elevated topography, Antipolo gives you a slice of the city glowing at night, which you can surely enjoy after a hectic day at work. You can also witness a breathtaking sunrise while having your morning coffee, and an amazing sunset as a perfect relaxation of the day. Adding to that, you can maximize all that nature has to offer – fresh air, green surroundings, and a spectacular view of the Sierra Madre.

Ready to fall in love with this city? Tayo na sa Antipolo!
