THE CORONAVIRUS AND THE SHIFT TO THE SUBURBS

This pandemic has taken a toll on many aspects of our lives, whether it be work-related, family-related, or home-related. All of us still face uncertainties on what will happen next and how our lives would be after this pandemic.

With what’s happening around us, most people already rethink their home choices and head to the suburbs with more space for oneself and the family. Considering the higher risks of high-touch surfaces of condominiums and other publicly shared spaces in the city, people find it safer and more practical to purchase properties on the outlying parts of the city.

Since the pandemic, real estate in the suburbs is not the same as it was before. Competition has grown fierce, and areas that have been neglected before seem to attract countless buyers today. This Covid-19 pandemic has made an irreversible imprint on people’s minds, and they tend to select places where they wouldn’t be trapped in small condominium spaces for several months should there be another lockdown. Compared to properties in the suburbs where you can buy bigger lands at the same rate as a small condominium unit in the city, the suburbs will be the better choice.

What our new homes would look like

After this pandemic is over, many businesses may resort to work from home set-ups and give more flexibility to its employees, while maximizing the available technology. Employees may be required to report to the office once every week, or report physically only when there are meetings or pitches.

With the obvious need for a decent home office in the new normal, a kitchen table and chair might not suffice. A bigger space is needed, some other office set-up needs to be in place, and a room away from unnecessary noise is a requirement.

These should not be a problem in the suburbs. A bigger space is a given, since land is still abundant in the outlays of the city. You can also easily set-up your home office because you have enough space to do it. Noise from cars and other distractions are also minimized in the suburbs since you skip the busy places in the city. For the new normal, living in the suburbs should not be a problem.

While we’re at the topic, there are properties in Antipolo we can recommend as the best place for you to move in. Antipolo is very close to the city – only 30 minutes from the East of Metro Manila, and it can offer scenic views and prime properties perfect for your new normal.
