We’re still living in a world full of uncertainties. The past years have been a rollercoaster, and we continue to go through unfamiliar paths because of the pandemic. However, as we start the new year, let’s look into the things we can do to declutter our minds and face 2022 with a fresh perspective.
Here are some tips that are surely useful:
- Get organized. Organizing your space is a great start to declutter your mind. An organized space helps you feel that you’re in control, and it also helps you be productive, especially when working from home.
- Set your priorities straight. Proactively knowing your goals and aspirations can go a long way. Figure out what matters most to you and create action plans to achieve those goals. This also gives you a sense of direction, instead of going back and forth not knowing where to go.
- Pause before you start. With so many things happening around us, our anxiety seems to build up. So, every morning, allow yourself to pause first and meditate. A few quiet minutes before you jump into work, social media, and everything else can help you breathe and relax.
- Avoid multitasking. While we may think that multitasking allows us to finish things faster, studies show that doing this may actually lower efficiency and impair cognitive control. It may be good to do this once in a while, but make sure to not overdo it because it creates additional stress and clutter in your brain. Start with the most important task on your list, and tick them off one at a time.
- Take a rest. We are humans, not robots. To be able to perform at your best, also make sure to take some rest and take a break at least for a few minutes. This allows you to process everything that’s going on and helps you recharge for another set of tasks to be accomplished. Get rid of your phone, close your eyes, breathe.
Are you ready to face the new year? It will surely be another rollercoaster. Buckle up and don’t forget that after it all, the most important one you should take care of is yourself. Here’s to a productive and wonderful 2022, friends!
